ExtraRenamer

With ExtraRenamer, you can rename multiple files such as your pictures, MP3 music, and video files using flexible renaming options. You can quickly rename files and decide whether to change case (Upper, Lower, Title Case, Toggle Case) , remove alphabets, numbers and special characters from file name, add/replace user defined text, add current and file date to the file name, add user defined counter with a user defined start number etc.

Add option to remove specific number of characters from beginning of filename, such as '_abc_123' to become 'abc_123'

Allow characters to be replaced with a space eg. replace . with

In the Text Add/Replace box you cannot replace any character with a space eg. you cannot rename abc.123.4 to abc 123 4

Add option to suppress specific characters such as .,-

It should be usefull that some characters as dot, comma, hyphen can be deleted from filename.

Portable ExtraRenamer

It would be more convenient if ExtraRenamer has a portable version, all the program settings can be save into *.ini or *.cfg file for portability. I'm sure this will benifits to lots of ExtraRenamer users.

Add an optional Shell Extension to Windows Explorer, allowing you to add multiple files to ExtraRenamer at once, for example by dragging over all of them, then right-clicking them and selecting a 'Rename with ExtraRenamer' option.

Release a portable version so that people can take the program with them on their U3 or PortableApps USB platform.

Add multiple sort functions to better presort before renaming files.

do a joint search from mutiple folders for things like File date, modified , duplicate, and album. All to make it easy to make combining photos.

Add 'quick' mode for drag and drop/shell ext renaming. and 'advanced' mode that opens full interface

Advanced mode should have fields where check boxes are (ie. today's date and most important, removal options). Include options to modify all fields (like modified date). Removal options need to be more robust, with a field for removal.

Add a tool to change the date (and time) stamp for files you receive with default values.

Default values for Date happen a lot with new cameras that haven't been set up or with image files from friends who haven't done the setup.

Allow for files to be renamed according to the date created (this does not presently work -- bugs)

The feature looks like it should be working, but when selected for JPG files it uses today's date in spite of whatever is selected.
